No, I've never had that problem.

I am running an HP though, 7.10 tends to be VERY unstable with HPs, that's what I running right now to post this comment, I haven't had any problems! I am running wireless though.

Yep. My PowerBook's hard drive has crashed on me once and randomly disconnected for about 3 days. The time is dissconnected I had a backup and luckily the problem somehow fixed itself. The time it crashed, I had no backup and all my data was lost. Due to the unreliability of my PowerBook, I have semi-retired it using it for browsing and light word processing only or for remote controlling my new PC via VNC.

As for ubuntu, I like it. Blender is blazingly fast which is why I always reboot into ubuntu for 3d stuff. It's kinda funny. I use windows most of the time except for blender. It just runs sooo much faster especially with a dual core chip set. I have just one problem with ubuntu tho. When I connect to my network directly by using Ethernet, it works fine for about an hour after which point it just drops off. I have tried unplugging and re plugging but only a reboot fixes the problem. I don't know how your network is set up but has this ever happened to you?

Yeah, that is always nice. Explosions are always a cool thing to see. One thing I want to see is muzzle flash and tracers with particles.
