I have bad news, very, very bad news.
My Hard Drive died two days ago, the partition that held all of my data, and the partition that help Windows XP, both got corrupted somehow. I’m running on a Linux Distro known as Ubuntu. To tell you the truth, I really like it performance wise for Blender, runs like a charm.
The bad part is that the only Blender file I didn’t have backed up, was of course, my walker project… WOW.
So, I might later on, restart the project, learn from what I did wrong, AND BACK UP EVERYHTING I HAVE.
I can not emphisise enough, back up all of your files in some way, shape or form, your HD will die on you at some point and you will regret not backing stuff up.
Don’t EVER forget Murphie’s Law:
If something can go wrong, it will.

Uh oh!. Been there, done that.
Lol, goota hate it, I’m making the best off it though, Blende does run faster than speedy gonzales on crack though, and so does yafray!
Yep. My PowerBook’s hard drive has crashed on me once and randomly disconnected for about 3 days. The time is dissconnected I had a backup and luckily the problem somehow fixed itself. The time it crashed, I had no backup and all my data was lost. Due to the unreliability of my PowerBook, I have semi-retired it using it for browsing and light word processing only or for remote controlling my new PC via VNC.
As for ubuntu, I like it. Blender is blazingly fast which is why I always reboot into ubuntu for 3d stuff. It’s kinda funny. I use windows most of the time except for blender. It just runs sooo much faster especially with a dual core chip set. I have just one problem with ubuntu tho. When I connect to my network directly by using Ethernet, it works fine for about an hour after which point it just drops off. I have tried unplugging and re plugging but only a reboot fixes the problem. I don’t know how your network is set up but has this ever happened to you?
No, I’ve never had that problem.
I am running an HP though, 7.10 tends to be VERY unstable with HPs, that’s what I running right now to post this comment, I haven’t had any problems! I am running wireless though.
