A foot… November 9, 2007

The foot! So, I have made a foot, no big deal you say? Think again. This foot is basically
the right (or left) foot of a robotic walker I’m making, but the big deal about it is that it is more or less functional. The joints need fine tuning, but I have tackled the hardest part in my eyes, getting the hydraulics to work. Every time I have made them, one thing or another doesn’t work, one half won’t track, or the other doesn’t move, period.

So, I stayed up about 1 hour past my recommended bed-time, best choice, probably not. But I can at least sleep satisfied now that part of the project is finished, I can now rest assured, that if any more hydraulics need to be added, I can add them. Mind you, this isn’t even close to the Level of Detail (LoD as it will now be known in my posts) that I want it at, you can safely expect tubes, access panels, and the likes by the time it’s done.

What I’m really exited about is that the project is actually shaping together. I will admit, I’m getting a lot of inspiration from the game Battlefield 2142 for the computer, but that will mostly be on the movement and the upper body. Unlike the hallway, I’m winging it, I’m not drawing out any sketches, or things like that.

So yeah, I might wind up making my own page for this project in specific, it will be in a link at the top if all goes well.

Looks very cool. I wish I had more time for Blender at the moment. Right now, photography and web design are taking over my life. Still, I am half way through designing a sail craft (check my deviantart page) UV textures confuse me.

Oh, and btw, a good idea would to post WIP with a wireframe visible. It looks cool and shows more about the geometry of the mesh.

Not bad at all. And I agree, it’s always a nice feeling to see things coming together. Gives you hope and inspiration.

@daboomonline: Yeah, I saw that, I’m thinking about making a vid tutorial about UVW Texturing in the near future, I’ll keep you updated.

@Dreamsgate: Thanks! You should see the latest post, it actually has a thigh. Lol
